Waterproofing is a key component of many Apple products and, with the iPhone 7 series, Apple has always included an extension cord that connects to the phone and can be used with an iPhone’s charging dock.
Now, reports suggest that Apple may be looking to add a waterproofing option to this extension cord as well.
The extension cord currently includes a waterproof rating of IPX5 and IPX8, but that rating could be increased to IPX12 with an upcoming update, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.
The report also claims that Apple could be working on an “air-resistance” version of the extension cord and that it could be updated to an IPX10 version as early as this month.
The new report claims that this update could come as soon as this fall and comes with an “Air Resistant” rating.
Apple will soon be releasing an iPhone 7s, 7s Plus, and 7s Pro and an iPhone X as well as a new iPhone XS and XS Max.
